It is remarkable for teachers who want to work with this population to have some references related to this topic. Maybe it does not have a relevant impact on the economy or the development plans of a country. However, it helps learners in several ways: improve cognitive health, have more opportunities to socialize with peers, and feel useful being part of the community. 

Some studies have shown that people who learn a new language and keep their minds active reducing the risk of getting Alzheimer's and other mental illnesses. So it is a way to prevent the typical health problems of old age. Another positive point of view is to achieve the goal of learning language as a personal purpose, in that way it relates to the quality of life. Besides the opportunity to get a better job or to be promoted in a company. 

This survey not only benefits the people involved. It is also meaningful for teachers because it demands to develop more teaching skills. On the other hand, it is a challenge that can bring personal satisfaction in our professional field, but at the same time that educators contribute to a better society no matter the age.
